Pandanus Lodge Lord Howe Island
If you want a sense of authentic island lifestyle in an intimate setting, Pandanus Lodge is one of Lord Howe Island’s most enchanting resorts. This small and extremely friendly place is tucked right into the heart of the island, amid a well-established garden filled with kentia palms, towering banyan trees and a lot of flowering bushes.
Hot spots like Ned’s Beach and the Lagoon are just a short stroll or bike ride away from Pandanus Lodge. Lord Howe Island is awash in nature and wildlife so it offers visitors rare experiences like feeding tropical fish by hand at Ned’s Beach or snorkelling around the planet’s southernmost coral reef system at the Lagoon.
This lovely little retreat consists of only four restored bungalows that are considered vintage Lord Howe Island style. Each of the units is tastefully furnished with modern conveniences without sacrificing any of that timeless tropical island ambiance that makes Lord Howe Island such an amazing place to stay. As a bonus, the Pandanus Restaurant is widely considered one of the island’s best places to dine.
All of the bungalows have fully-equipped kitchens, so you always have the option of walking to the grocery store and stocking up for a meal at home on the privacy of your outdoor deck. Since the entire property is covered by forest, you are almost guaranteed to have the company of birds whenever you relax on your terrace.
The Kava bungalow is bright, airy and very private. This two-bedroom unit features a small kitchen and a huge deck that has its own barbecue grill. The interior is as luxurious as you could ask for, yet simplistic in its use of space and light. Howie is a two-bedroom bungalow which is similar to the Kava, with a sweeping deck and a light, airy ambiance.
If you only need a one-bedroom unit, the Banyan and the Kentia are amazing bungalows. Both feature high ceilings that give an uncluttered feel, along with private deck with personal barbecue grill. There are kitchens in both units in case you feel like eating in. Of course, the Pandanus Restaurant has such an attractive menu that many guests never take advantage of the cooking facilities.
